Biography

Hello, my name is Ryan Kruse, I am from Leawood Kansas an
d I am working towards a Computing Science Major at K-State. I chose to come to K-State, because of their outstanding engineering program. Computing Science is very interesting to me, because I love figuring out how everything works, and I also love being able to create things on my own. I first started to look into Computing Science my sophomore year of high school. The very first program that I ever made was on a TI-89 calculator and it was a program that let you play blackjack. Since then, my knowledge in Computing Science has vastly grown. I have create my own 2D physics engine, side-scrolling game, and my other projects. The project that I am most proud of is a game for a restaurant called Salty Iguana, the game was created using Unity and consists of a catering truck racing around a track (shaped like an iguana) collecting various Mexican foods. This project was given to me from my high school class program called CAPS (Center for Advanced Professional Studies), my colleague and friend Matt Weis was my partner on the project. My favorite languages to work in are Java, Python, Lua and BASH.

Some hobbies that I have are skateboarding, snowboarding, programming, and playing basketball.
I come from a loving family and have two younger brothers, one in their freshman year of high school and the other in eight grade, I also have an older sister who works at Disney World and two loving parents. My father is a salesman, who sells companies data storage space in his company's database, so he is the reason for my "techie" background.

I have had two jobs in the past, the first one was at a restaurant called Cactus Grill where I  bussed tables and cleaned up after people, and the second job was an internship at the company RareWire, where I helped update apps and worked on numerous BASH projects.

I'm planning on getting my Masters in Computing Science, so in six years when I graduate I am planning on either going into research of algorithms, teaching CIS at a college, or working on software design or game design. My ultimate goal is to create an application of my own, that everyone uses so I can tell people that I was the one that created it. I am extremely excited for this class and plan on continuing all the way through college with a Computing Science major.
